Love Forever

While I take a break to care for my husband after surgery,
here is a lovely reminder from my friend, Mary Pierce. Mary is a wonderful,
warm, witty woman who I met at Write-to-Publish. Check out her blog at Laugh Lady . She speaks in addition
to authoring several books. See her video trailer for When Did My Life Become a
Game of Twister
?

“Love forever—March
10, 1946
,” read the inscription inside my mother’s simple gold
wedding band. “I never forgot my anniversary!”
she joked. More than just a reminder, the ring is a precious keepsake. The
intense feeling engraved in gold captured the essence of a special moment and
the most special relationship in her life.

Reading the inscription, memories of my parents flood back,
but I know I’ve forgotten far more than I remember. Human memory is limited. A
face or name “rings a bell” but details elude us. Where, when did we meet? We need reminders, or birthdays and anniversaries
slip by us.

How wonderful that God’s memory is never faulty. In His
omniscience, He remembers every detail of every life. He never forgets us.
“See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands,” He says (Isaiah 49:16 NIV).  A reminder like the inscription in a ring, a
string around the finger, a picture in a locket, but this reminder is
permanent.

“On the palms of my hands”… my name inscribed in the scar
of a nail, inscribed on God’s palm for all eternity, on the day He died for me.

Father, today help me
see reminders of your faithful care for me and thank You for your
never-changing love.
